General Information - Shopping

There are many options for grocery shopping in La Parata, Mojacar, from a small shop just around the corner from the apartment to the larger Mercado supermarkets where one can buy shoppingeverything from fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry and fish, to frozen, canned and other kinds of processed foods, as well as paper products, detergents, wines and liquors. 

We find that prices in Mojacar and Almeria are reasonable and many items are priced less than they would be in the UK.  For example, a good bottle of wine is inexpensive and, for special occasions, Spanish champagne is very affordable.

There is a special UK Supermarket along the playa in Mojacar for those of us who cannot imagine a holiday without Marmite, HP sauce or some other special food from the UK.

In Mojacar, small photo and novelty shops all along the playa also carry all the major UK newspapers, daily and Sunday editions.

Spanish banks will cash your Travelers Cheques as long as you have your passport or other proper identification with you. Mojacar banks are generally open only from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with some closing as early as 1:00 PM .  You can also access cash (in Euros) through the ATMs at the banks or supermarkets with your bank card or debit and/or credit card.
