General Information - Weather
Almeria province is known for its year-round sunny and warm climate. Because of its abundant sunshine, Almeria is the winter vegetable production capital of Spain and when you fly into Almeria airport you will see the multitude of greenhouses that dot much of the rural landscape.
There are clear, blue, sunny skies in Mojacar virtually the entire year. In the winter, (mid-December through the end of February) temperatures can be as low as 7 or 8 Celsius at night but can rise as high as 20 to 23 Celsius during the day.
And, while there can be snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains during winter, just two hours to the west of Almeria, you will not see snow in Mojacar. Indeed, at Christmas and New Year's in 2005-06, one day our children were playing in the snow in the mountains to the west of Almeria and then, one day later, they were enjoying the Mojacar beaches and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea on the playa near our apartment.
The best time of year to visit La Parata for those who really love the sun and the sea will obviously be June through September when day-time temperatures can reach as high as 30 to 32 Celsius but then fall to as low as 15 to 20 Celsius at night.
July and August on the southeast Spanish coast are traditionally the warmest months of the year but because our luxury apartment is nestled under bougainvillea plants, surrounded by trees and the mountains, and has a modern air conditioning unit, even at the hottest times of year there is a cool respite waiting for you on the patio or inside this beautiful stucco apartment.
